Ugento di Salento, Apuglia
Not an easy producer to find in the guide books because it is a relative newcomer and has no cellar of its own.
What it has is old bush vines of Negroamaro that sprawl over the red clays of the Conca d’Oro (Golden Conch, somebody tell me what a conch is please).
The Primitivo is trained on wires, far more orderly and much easier to work.
The wines are made at a local cellar with great simplicity and skill, they have an untainted joy about them and taste of the warm and friendly character of the Salento.
