  1. Sant'Agnese. Merlot 'Rubido' 2011

Warming damson, truffle and mocha.  Absolute classic merlot powerhouse, bitter chocolate, ripe jammy fruit, unlike any merlot I have bought, there haven't been many, this one is unrestrained and joyous - the Hagrid of wines

  5. Stefano Mancinelli. Lacrima 'Terre dei Goti' Rosso 2007

A truly unique Lacrima, the drying process introduces notes of oloroso, dark chocolate, aged balsamic and leather yet the floral elements are held and rose and violet shine through enhanced with fig and date.  A desert island wine.

  6. Costanzo. Nero di Sei 2012

Notes of coffee, spice, red berries and coco. A wine that does not stray far from its core, a fine tannic structure controlled and balanced.

  7. Ascheri. Pelaverga di Verduno 'do ut des' 2010

Cherry, caramel, a dusting of sweet tannins, popcorn and strawberry to blueberry. A very different style to any Pelaverga that I have tasted.

  8. Brezza. Barolo 2011

    Brezza Barolo 2011
    Barolo DOCG

Quite deep core of garnet but very pale on the edge, no evidence of amber of bricky colours.
Extraordinary nose, huge and complex, a bit of an assault really: dark chocolate, cedar, rose petals the full Barolo experience in fact.

  9. Sant'Agnese. Sangiovese 'Libatio' 2007

If Warhol worked with sangiovese this would be the result. It is bold and precise, it just works. Black cherry and floral on the nose. Some lemon and spice, a serious attack of black cherry fruit, highlights and shades from basil, dark chocolate and dried herb.

Elegant, jam, damson, ketchup and spice. Drying tannins, approachable but not easy, needs a good 8 hours in an open decanter. Wine for cellaring.
