The Franciacorta is epic so let’s drink to that, Vicentini’s Soave is a benchmark and Necotium’s Cabernet Franc has the minty, cassis-laced fruit that makes a third bottle essential. Treats from Castell’ in Villa, Picéch and Santa Vittoria will enrich any occasion.
Old school, classic montepulciano. Brooding, muscular fruit with truffle and dark chocolate flavours, tannins are ripe and firm, floral and mineral elements lift the wine, a worthwhile addition to any cellar.
Passerina has a habit of straying deeply into the tropical spectrum, but is saved from such indignity when picked early, here the fruit is citrus with ripe pear and dried herb. An original and lovely spumante.
This vintage leans towards apricot, with kiwi and basil enriching the experience. Beautiful creamy texture, a fine complexity that suits everything from convivial company to blue cheese to fish dishes.
A fine, taught, mineral spumante. Gentle mousse and complex red berry fruit nuance, this is the first release of this wine and whilst it may not quite be the finished article, it is a truly fascinating Blanc de Noir.
Its’ dark amarone-like body is packed with black damson, sloe and loganberry fruit, tar, licorice and grilled herbs, all of which come together in an intense red of considerable character. Bloody hell, that’s good.
