Paglianetto Verdicchio Matelica Riserva
Verdicchio di Matelica DOC
The vineyard is in the parish of Pagliano, it lies between three hundred and fifty and four hundred meters, on a west facing slope with soils that are a mixture of clay and chalk.
The vines were planted in 2000 using a Guyot system and are farmed organically. The grapes are picked by hand, the yield is about eighty hectolitres per hectare. Winemaking is refreshingly straightforward; free run juice fermented at a controlled cool temperature in steel tanks, maturation in steel for eighteen months with the malolactic fermentation blocked, there is some lees contact although the lees has been thinned out. The final wine is held in bottle for eight months before being released. 13.5%
