Emilio Bulfon Grappa di UcelutThis is a vine from the Ucellini family. The grapes are incredibly sweet and the birds love them, so traditionally these vines are planted as a decoy to look after other grapes. It has been propagated for centuries in the Western Friuli and makes sweet wines exclusively. Bulfon’s Ucelùt has evolved over the years and although it is a wine that we used to buy, I have not been so convinced by the recent releases. It is now an appassimento wine, rather than a late harvest and is more akin to a Vin Santo. In a return to a similar logic, I think that if I want Vin Santo, do you know what, I’ll buy Vin Santo! 40%TASTING2012Honeyed, fresh and clean fruit, a little too sugary though.2010Honey, sweet and a tip herby but really, not up too much.
