Brezza Barbera Rosalia
Barbera d'Alba DOC
Leather and damson, truffle, red berry and hawthorn. A vibrant, tannic, full flavoured, uncompromising
This is a very unusual Barbera, usually this variety has a puppy-like quality, always willing to please with open joyous fruit, no rasping tannins, however this is from the dark side.
The vines were planted in 1952 and are treated with some reverence, the age of the vines combined with the terroir gives this Barbera a whole new pleather of flavours, leather and truffle darken the vibrant berry fruit, it is wonderfully complex and there are very few wines like this made, strange that it is presented with an ultra modern glass stopper – don’t be fooled this is retro at its best.
Santa Rosalia is the name of a vineyard area just outside of Barolo, on the way to the beautiful town of Diano d’Alba. Brezza own just under a hectare on a west facing slope, quite high at three hundred metres. Total production 7000 bottles 13%
